Entertaining!

I absolutely loathed this book. I loathed it two chapters into it, I loathed it while reading it, I loathed it after I finished it. It gets two stars because I only wasted 2 hours reading it and it held my attention (mainly because I just couldn’t wait to see what other ridiculous scenario would happen next).

First of all, these teens get stuck in a blizzard. A 2+ day long white-out condition gale force wind blizzard that drops more than 2 feet of snow. But the reason they were out driving to a theatre competition and didn’t know they’d caught in it is because “it altered its track at the last minute.” Now, I’m from the northeast, so maybe Midwest snowstorms are different, but…I’ve never seen a storm alter track so quickly and so severely that it drops that kind of storm to an area that would otherwise have just had a few flurries or something and been otherwise safe to drive in. So right off the bat, I was annoyed.

Then we got into the actual story. Which was utterly ridiculous. This book threw everything at the wall just to see what would stick and featured many of the classic YA tropes. Insta-love? Check. Useless adults? Check. Bitchy infighting? Check. A group of teenagers figuring everything out all by themselves and fixing everything without any assistance? Check. Human trafficking? (Wtf?!) Uh, check. We also get serial killers, the supernatural, mountain lions, and the ending of Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None” completely spoiled, just in case anyone hasn’t read that yet and planned to.

I won’t even get into the handyman who talks about himself in the third person because he “hasn’t been the same since the car accident” but otherwise appears to be COMPLETELY NORMAL AND COGNITIVELY FINE IN EVERY OTHER EFFING WAY.

The mystery behind everything was just stupid, and the ending gave a nice wrapped-up-in-a-bow infodump. And in an entire weekend without power and frequent use of phone flashlights, not one phone died the entire time. Wish mine had a battery like that!

This book irritated the ever-loving shit out of me and I’m glad it’s over.

2.5, it was a fun and quick read, but not truly stand out to me

My second book in a row that pays tribute to Agatha Christie. Fast read; it only took me 4h. I didn't like any of the characters; they were dumb teenagers, trying to be cool. But then it got interesting. The end was predictable but it was still a good, suspenseful read.

Disappointed!

Very suspenseful. Fans of April Henry won't be disappointed. Lots of twists and turns. I did figure out the killer but it wasn't so obvious.

Two Truths and a Lie was a fun Ya thriller! It did take me a few chapters to get into the book but once the action started I started to get into it. The characters are interesting and entertaining. I did enjoy the winter setting; it does add to the adventure and thrill! The pace is a little slow in the beginning but once it starts the pace is pretty much non-stop! Overall it was a fast read but interesting and entertaining!
