DID NOT FINISH

This book was almost unbearable. I enjoy other books by this author, but this one was awful. The “representation” is a tired attempt at seeming hip and socially active. The plot is boring and confusing, the “mystery” is barely there, and the attempts at being realistic fall flat.

read all in one sitting! this is not at all what i was expecting and there are plenty of creepy moments, and twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat! As a theatre kid loved that basically everyone here was one and they used theatre knowledge and lingo to get out of sticky situations 😭 so silly but also cool. The setting is amazing and rllllly amps up the tension and creepiness. Very fun and unique read!

Hmmm…I did not enjoy the beginning or the characters generally. Too many and also not memorable enough? I did appreciate the fast progression after the first half and the final twists weren’t too bad.

This is my first April Henry book, and I was really impressed. I love teen fiction anyway, but teen horror is great! This book reminded me of a teen version of the Shining. Two teen school groups along with their teacher, a stranded driver, and a trucker get stranded after a sudden blizzard. The only option is the hotel down the road. All of them get checked into this unusual hotel and make the best of the situation. That is until they lose power. Then things get dark in more ways than one. Someone is hunting down the guests, and everyone is wondering who is the killer. Is it one of the teens, the stranded trucker, the mysterious hotel manager, or the ex-felon handyman? It was a quick read and worth the time.
