This is a lovely read, and a true celebration of libraries and books as wonderful physical things and as the source of ideas dreams and invention.

I love books that talk about books and libraries, and Manguel does a wonderful job describing all aspects of the library.

It's great to read about loving, collecting and reading books. Put in also some library history and you get a great book.

A non-fiction book about the architecture, history, and theory about libraries, this is a friendly read for someone who really likes books. The author's intellectualism was only sometimes annoying, and I liked what I learned about Aztec libraries, itinerant libraries, etc. The style is more of a storytelling one, but facts are carefully footnoted in a non-distracting way.

Stuffily erudite; biblio-fetishistic. Do you like thinking about organizing and cataloguing your books? This one is for you.
