It was an interesting book, quite short. I would have aspected more romance, but the more romantic parts were certainly lovely to read. I wanted the story to continue, in order to read more. It was very quick to read, also because the story was always captivating.

Before venturing on to the novella, I must say that I admire Ann Goldstein's translation. I'm also slowly wading my way into her translation of Italo Calvino's [b: The Written World and the Unwritten World|22749722|The Written World And The Unwritten World Essays|Italo Calvino|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1623377726l/22749722._SY75_.jpg|14598796]

Silk's use of literary interpolation permeates the entire story, imbuing the tale with a mildly obsessive repetition, a quality that I think Baricco ties to love. All of this is kept afloat with Baricco's lyrical and light prose.
