Helena has done it again! Mav is everything!

- Reverse Age-gap
- Student- Professor
- Hockey Romance
- Page Turner

The Angst!! Maverick Waters absolutely broke my heart. He puts too much pressure on himself. He’s still struggling from events that happened to his sister, Lavender as kids. He’s struggling with what he wants to do with his life.

He meets Clover and it’s an instant connection. They have a one night stand that he cannot stop thinking about. Now things are complicated because now she’s his professor.

I loved the emotional connection these two had. This was a page turner and I did not want it to end.

POV: First person / Dual
Genre: Reverse Age Gap / Forbidden / Student & Teacher / College Romance / Sports Romance (Ice Hockey)

Maverick and Clover's first encounter involved a lost paddle-boarder with sunburn, after the two end up having a hot summer night together Maverick doesn't think he'll ever see her again. Fast forward to the start of Maverick’s senior year, and he finds himself in an awkward situation, his hot one night stand is now his professor...

Bitter Sweet Heart was at its core, a very character-driven novel, there is a wonderful storyline but that’s not what captivates you and compels you to read on, it is without doubt, the characters.

Maverick and Clove’s connection was undeniable and their chemistry was phenomenal.

Bitter Sweet Heart was a wonderful read with its humour, heartbreak and hotness. Although it ticks the adorable and fun boxes of a college romance, Maverick is an old soul so the book never feels juvenile, and the relationship between him and Clover is not only believable but has a wonderful equality to it in which the age gap becomes inconsequential. The book is filled with angst, depth, romance, forgiveness and overcoming obstacles, both physical and mental.

A hot summer hookup takes quite a turn when Maverick walks in late to class to find his new professor is the woman he has been remembering. I am so glad to be back in the Pucked world. Maverick is an absolutely amazing character. He has such a generous heart. He's loyal and protective and cares so much for his family. I particularly appreciated the way in which his experience of childhood trauma was explored.

And Clover was such a great match for him. I loved how it wove in her backstory and problems with her ex. Together Maverick and Clover had off-the-charts chemistry, and it was so clear why the age gap was right for them. Some of you know I was a little concerned how the professor/student relationship would go, but I am happy to report that I loved it and wasn't at all upset about power dynamics or issues of consent.

I re-read Little Lies, as I was waiting for Bitter Sweet Heart. I was very glad I did, and I do recommend reading them in order. Little Lies includes a few crucial scenes that explain a lot of Maverick's motivations. I also enjoy the older generation of his parents and their friends, so it's great to have read the Pucked and All In series as well. This current Lies, Hearts, and Truths series is somewhat heavier in tone than those books, more reminiscent of the Inked Armor books.

To sum up, I loved this book and recommend all the related ones. It brings together sports romance, angst, forbidden love, great chemistry and steamy scenes, and amazing family with all the humor we love from them. There's such growth from so many characters. This book took me on a journey.

Thank you to Helena Hunting and Social Butterfly PR for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this! Although it was a little predictable, I didn't care as I love these characters so so much and Helena Hunting never lets her readers down. I adored Mav and Clover and cannot wait for the next book in this series. Makes me want to reread Pucked all over again!!

He thought it was just one last summer fling before he needed to buckle down for his senior year and prepare for the draft; but that all changed when she walked into the classroom and didn’t take a seat, she stood at the front of the room. Clover never thought she would see Maverick again after their steamy fling but with him being one of her students, her life just got instantly more complicated. Can they maintain clear boundaries or will the lines blur as situations keep arising bringing them closer and closer together?

Maverick’s story will without a doubt surprise you. There’s so much more to Maverick that meets the eye; he has an easy going personality and only shows you the side he wants you to see until he met Clover. Clover saw underneath the layers Maverick was hiding and saw him in his truest sense. Together they bonded over their experiences and their struggles. They celebrated the good times and provided support in the tough times. Maverick and Clover are definitely one of those couples you can see staying together long after the story ends- their connection is meaningful and it only intensifies their chemistry.

Thank you @helenahunting and @socialbutterfly_pr for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

One of my favorite things about this series is that we get to see my favorite character’s children all grown up.  Maverick is a wonder combination of Violet and Alex. In his relationship with Clover shows us that he is little cocky but is also wonderfully compassionate and kind.  Their love might be forbidden but they bring out the best in each other.  There is definitely angst, but the pay off is worth it. I can’t wait for BJ’s story

I liked this much better than Kody and Lavender’s story.

Maverick was such a lovely character and clearly had so much going on internally and constantly pushed everyone away because of pressure he felt from outside sources.

The entire Waters family needed to be in therapy after what happened with Lavender and it’s shocking to me that they didn’t see that.

I liked Clover but it definitely felt more like Mavericks story than her’s. Even with her ex being the main conflict.
fast-paced

I absolutely loved BITTER SWEET HEART! I've been eager for Maverick's story ever since we got to see bits and pieces of him in LITTLE LIES! I loved his humour, and I loveeeeed his relationship with his sister, Lavender...so I was extremely excited when Helena Hunting first announced that Mav's book would be next in the series...and let me tell you, he did not disappoint!

Maverick was just as wonderful as I hoped he'd be! I loved his humour, his heart, and it was wonderful seeing him front and center...and it was a pleasure seeing him find love! Clover was wonderful, too! I knew a tiny bit about her because of teasers that Helena posted, but it was lovely getting to know her and I loved how she and Mav complemented one another! Their chemistry was absolutely on fire, too...definitely on the very, very steamy side...and I have to admit that I loved that about it! ;) Along with their chemistry, the banter and communication between Mav and Clover was something that I really appreciated. They were so honest with their feelings and the conversations they had throughout the book made me so happy. It was phenomenal to get to see them grow together!!! I also loved seeing so many of my fave characters from the Pucked, All In, and Lies, Hearts and Truths series!!! I already can't wait for future books...particularly BJ's! ;)

Overall, I loved BITTER SWEET HEART! It was steamy, and packed full of heart! It made me laugh, cry, swoon, and I couldn't put it down! I highly recommend both it and the first book (which takes place concurrently with this one), LITTLE LIES! If you're looking for a fantastic contemporary romance that features wonderful characters, a phenomenal and passionate romance, and a story that will keep you on your toes, then I think this is the perfect book for you! I'm even happy to share my new book boyfriend, Maverick, with you! ;)

Maverick…wise beyond his years, a true caretaker, and when he loves, he loves HARD! Mav is a product of his childhood and what happened to his sister at the carnival all those years ago. It’s not until he realizes it happened to ALL of them, that he can really come to terms with his anxiety and begin to heal. ⁣

This story was emotional and beautiful while also keeping the funny moments we expect from these characters! Maverick and Clover were the perfect match, each lending their strengths to the other at exactly the right time. ❤️ ⁣

So many moments in this book tugged at my heartstrings in the best possible way! His heart-to-heart with Alex about broke me and I sobbed through the whole scene…it was amazing and everything I didn’t know I needed from those characters! ❤️‍
