I loved this look into the real Maverick. He's always been the happy go lucky guy. But there is so much happening beneath the surface.
This book was an emotional roller coaster. Clover is such a good compliment to Maverick. She is everything he needs. The way they support each other, even when they should stay apart, is truly touching and beautiful.
Alex Waters brought me to tears at one point. Seeing Violet and Alex as parents is one of my favorite things. They aren't perfect and they definitely make mistakes where Maverick is concerned. But they are loving and kind. And trying to do right by their kids. Violet in Mama bear mode was EVERYTHING!
There are so many moments in the story where you can see how caring and protective Maverick is. He melted my heart many times over.
This is a standalone but I highly recommend reading Little Lies first. You get a lot of background and there.

Whoa
This book was perfect. I loved seeing everyone again and a new again of some family history. This is definitely a book that needs to be read after his parents and his sisters so everything makes more sense. I highly recommend this one and can't wait for the next one to come out soon

I really enjoyed this rendition of reverse age gap romance. I loved that Maverick and Clover’s relationship was build more on an emotional connection (the second time around) rather than purely physical as a lot of other student/professor books.
One thing though, it felt really dragged out in the end, so it could have been shorter.
Cute book though
3.75⭐️

I really enjoyed reading Bitter Sweet Heart but I felt like the ending was a little bit rushed.
I felt I needed more info in between the final chapter and the epilogue.

Bittersweet is exactly what this book was! I felt there was a sad layer below all the story, mostly because Maverick was dealing with such long-lasting issues. His parents, Kodiak and his siblings are also worried about him, sensing he’s struggling. There’s also a yummy forbidden trope, in that he falls in love with his Creative Writing professor, and I loved how the author developed the storyline, there was a lot of respect for each other’s situation.
Maverick is dealing with several issues, mostly events related to Lavender and where he feels responsible being the big brother closest to her. It’s like a load that he’s been carrying throughout the years, and now he has an additional issue, deciding what he really wants for his future. Living under the shadow of his father’s legendary fame is not easy, mostly when he knows he’s not as good a hockey player as Alex Waters was. And on top of it, he feels a distance from his best friend Kodiak. I saw him as living inside a bubble, not knowing how to relate to his loved ones, feeling the weight of their comfort on his back and not knowing how to deal. I hurt so much for Maverick and loved his generous and giving heart!
It’s no wonder he fell in love with an older woman, he’s an old soul. Clover gave him a stability he badly needed and he felt more grounded as they deepened their relation. I loved the consideration Maverick gave her as he respected her position and gave her time to decide on them as a couple. I loved that Clover always assured him she was conflicted but she was very much into the relation with him too. Both were considerate in their feelings for each other and both respected each other’s space. Maverick felt mature beyond his age, and they meshed together perfectly. I think having a wacky mother makes you grow up differently! I loved seeing Violet being her usual spontaneous self with the verbal diarrhea which Maverick seems to have inherited. Lavender seems to be Violet’s mini-me since she enjoys shocking Maverick with her over shares. I loved the family dynamics where there’s love, teasing and support. Violet is on a never-ending quest to interrogate and find out her children’s issues! And let’s not forget about the Waters men’s curse, where “foreplay is not a suggestion, it’s a necessity if you’re a Waters man.” The conversations about the curse were hysterical!
It was a wonderful read, and I ended up bittersweet indeed, sorry it ended, but looking forward for more beautiful stories from this author.
