3.7 AVERAGE

This was a sweet story about love and loss and found love again... I liked the innocence, and I liked the way the children found a home with our heroine...

I had high hopes for this based on the average review rating but ended up disappointed. The story was predictable with storylines that had some drama but nothing that couldn’t be tied up quickly and neatly. I found the writer very repetitive with the main character repeating things that had happened multiple times. I get trying to introduce the story to other characters but I feel like this could have been handled better. To the reader it felt like the author didn’t trust we got something the first five times it was mentioned.

I received this book from the publisher giveaway. I found the writing enjoyable with strong characters. Themes include sexual assault, drug use, adoption, domestic violence.

What a sweet story! I truly enjoyed this one.

Anything that takes me longer than a week to finish these days is clearly something I just can’t get into. (This one took 15 days!) The dialogue between Caroline and the children was so cringey and unnatural and the plot was repetitive and needed more depth. An okay read, with just okay writing.

Good solid story for what I call "women's commercial literature." At times it was a bit too much as far as coincidences and such, but I still enjoyed the book.

This contemporary fiction novel has some great characters and an interesting plot that deals with family, adoption, and domestic violence. It also gives some insight into the fashion industry and the balance between work and family. I enjoyed the majority of the book as the plot moved quickly and had some interesting challenges and twists, but the ending was a little too "happily ever after" for my taste. Still a good read though at 4/5 stars.

The author felt overly ambitious in this one. Caroline, after a fashion designer coup and friend's accidental overdose, leaves New York City with her friend's two little kids to a small town in Washington State. There she comes back to the familiarity of her family and her old best friends who are married (Sierra and Will). She tries to get her fashion career back on track, finds love, and starts a support group for domestic violence victims.

There's a lot going on here, so chances are at least one of the plot threads will interest you. But just know that there is very little of any one thread. The sewing circle is actually very little of the book. So much is glossed over. Otherwise, I'm sure this novel would have been 1,000 pages.

I liked it just fine, and as expected everything comes to a neat and pretty conclusion - except for the bad guy.

Really enjoyed the fashion aspects and the domestic violence info/tie-in. Caroline’s family was also endearing, and I liked how they dealt with the children’s trauma.

I thought Caroline & Will’s relationship as adults was a bit too easy or sanitized, maybe. Even w their history and backstory, I needed more there.

But overall, an enjoyable read.

I treated myself to readIng this book on plane ride and it did not disappoint. It kept me entertained on the trip while also providing much needed information about domestic abuse without being graphic.
