In this second volume we get to see the Sandman begin to come into it's own. Slowly distancing itself from the rest of the DC universe and telling a story of brand new characters who, for better or worse, feed into our nightmares and dreams. While it is a bit uneven at times, the stories told are insightful and thought provoking as well as characters that are hard to forget. Not the most amazing of the sandman volumes but certainly one which is worth a read.

I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first! Feels like I’m in the groove of things now even though I was still lost in a few bits, but I’m just appreciating the surrealism whether or not I understand what’s happening lol.

This one was rather dark; the murderer convention was particularly fascinating, especially because it had a religious panel. I did find the main story a bit of a "hmph" moment because of the brother and how does one just lose their child, but regardless it was a good read. Sad that Death doesn’t make an appearance though.

Looking forward to the next one!
