Quite a different take to the usual mystery thrillers I normally read. This was a methodical takedown of a crime scene and potential suspects, whilst providing insight into how detectives might think when presented with a seemingly inconsequential bunch of clues.

Banyak hal yang bisa dipelajari dalam sebuah peristiwa. Termasuk peristiwa pembunuhan. Detektif Kaga—mode summer—berjalan mengelilingi daerah Nihonbashi, dari toko ke toko, rumah ke rumah, untuk memecahkan kasus pembunuhan. Ini novel detektif tapi heartwarming dengan sub genre slice of life. Dan di novel ini, visualisasi Detektif Kaga top tier!

Bagus tp gak sememikat Malice bagiku, formatnya yg dibuat kayak kumcer (walaupun semuanya berhubungan dalam satu kasus) buat aku rada ngantuk dan gak sabaran, pertama karna capek tiap bab harus dr awal lg bacain sejarah ama background masing2 karakter, kedua karna hampir setengahnya gak berhubungan sm kasus yg ditangani, cuma meluruskan kesalahpahaman yg terjadi antar karakter2 yg jd saksi.
Disini Detektif Kaga masih menarik perhatian dgn aura karismatiknya yg khas, namun emg gak seintens pas di Malice, disini dia lebih nunjukin sisi santainya, lebih ramah sambil pake baju kasual berinteraksi sm orang-orang awam sekitar Nihonbashi, mainly untuk penyelidikan, partly utk menyesuaikan diri ke kota baru karna habis dipindahin dr Kepolisian Metropolitan.
Baru sedikit ada kejelasan di tengah-tengah, motifnya emg gak sekompleks di Malice, ini lebih sederhana dan manusiawi, banyak pelajaran yg bisa diambil terutama ttg hubungan anak dan orang tua.
Hal yg aku suka tentunya Detektif Kaga, walaupun dr segi cerita gak sesuai selera tp klo udh ketemu kata 'Kaga' jd semangat baca lagi ehe

In Newcomer, we don't directly jump to the murder and figure out the facts and circumstances of the murder. We, however, are introduced to the murder by way of many other sub-plots, wherein Kaga visits different shops in the Nihonbashi area to figure out certain details of the murder and this is how the reader is able to piece together, slowly, the details of the murder. It's only towards the second half of the book or so, that we are directly flung into the murder and all details of it come to the fore, climaxing into catching the killer and motive behind the crime.
I loved the character. The storyline and mystery was intriguing and kept me guessing till the very end. But what I enjoyed the most was the unassuming and brilliant Detective Kaga's investigating methods!! I'm looking forward to more of Detective Kaga!
