Okay this was purely ✨vibes✨ for some reason I only ever read the Mortal Instruments as a teenager so this was a blast to the past. It’s getting 4 stars instead of 3 purely because this book reminds me of how I fell in love with fantasy in the first place. It reminds me of my teenage years hiding under my duvet with a torch trying to finish the story before I got too tired

many critiques, but mainly disliked how most of the women felt like caricatures. eg, a character had a scar, and it was mentioned specifically nearly every time she appeared—that’s not a YA critique, but a flat character critique. I was annoyed by all the significance given to superficial traits because I generally expect characters to have a bit of depth. it is possible to write a lot but say very little—clockwork angel does that with magic itself.
Llevo con la trilogía en mis estanterías desde hace años porque me las regalaron unas navidades, pero me daba miedo leérmela porque en su momento me leí Cuidad de hueso y no me gustó nada :(. Pero mira, ni tan mal. No ha sido mi libro favorito de la historia pero entiendo el revuelo que causaron los personajes en su momento y la historia me ha tenido bastante entretenida. Además, la maldita última frase me ha hecho tirar el libro a un lado. No sabía si leerme el siguiente justo después, pero ahora necesito saber qué pasa.

this has been on my tbr list for YEARS since I read and loved TMI when the series was coming out. the internet always said that the yearning and romance jn TID is top tier but I hate to say it.i didn’t feel that. The pacing is super slow in some parts. And I see the potential with emo boy herondale and mysterious carstairs. I really started feeling the love triangle towards the last 1/3 of the book. I’m imagine the second book gets better…let’s see
