I liked this. I do understand why people said it’s kind of all over the place, but I think it ties itself up nicely. There are definitely parts that are not developed enough imo but I thought the writing was good and I liked the ending. I didn’t expect the twist. Joniece Abbott-Pratt is always a joy to listen to so that helped.

Victor LaValle is a great writer. I can tell that he has clearly honed his craft. The story was easy to read.However, the overall plot did not make much sense to me. It was as if he had an idea for three different short stories and then chose to merge them together into one. Which made the overall story feel very disjointed. Because I enjoy his writing style, I think I will try another book by him some other time. This one just didn’t work out.

I’m not gonna lie. I have no idea what I just read. The writing style was really great but the storyline felt like it was all over the place for me. I binge read this and finished it in a day. But I still don’t know how I feel about it. There was so much happening.
