Still the same delightful characters as in the first book and the storyline had the same gentle pace with more unfolding awareness on the part of puss and her friends, but there were times when I felt like I was being preached at through some of the characters. I prefer to be shown rather than told.

This was a delight. Follow the life of His Holiness's Cat, lovingly called among other names Rinpoche, as she tails the various humans in her life in her attempt to answer life's great question: what is the art of purring?

This is a sweet story, filled with short lessons on how a person can come by, or create/manifest, happiness in their lives. I'd say the only thing that is out of place is how HCC happens to be at the right place and at the right time to perform her powerful eavesdropping, but that aside, her character is lighthearted and fun. The author really gets into what it means to be a cat in the world of the Dalai Lama.

Buddhism is told from a cat's perspective. I have a very hard time understanding philosophy and religion but this book peels all the layers and lays it bare in a simplistic manner with lot of humor and great endearing characters. Both the books in the series where like breath of fresh air.

I adored this book. I would wake up in the mornings, sit down with a cup of coffee, and read a chapter. It was gentle, comforting, and nearly enlightening. I’ve been in pursuing this idea of joy, and what makes us happy and this book was a wonderful addition to it.

What is the formula for happiness? We often seek happiness from a future time point- I will be happy when so-and-so happens in my life or when I achieve such-and-such thing. I too, for the most part in the last 5 years have attached my happiness to a goal, but have often found that the mythical happiness is quite elusive.

This book explores exactly that from the point of view of a very intelligent cat. The truth is we are poor at guessing where our happiness lies, because we think we will remain just the same throughout except for the thing we are focussed on seeking. True happiness lies in feeling that state of mind without the influence of external factors.

The secret to achieving that happiness is revealed in the course of the book. It's a wholesome read and in many ways much deeper than the first book of the series. Read this book slowly to enjoy and understand it more.

The author is clearly using the fictional cat of the Dalai Lama to teach us about mindfulness and other Buddhist principles, but it is done in such a delightful and charming way, you don't find it unpleasantly didactic at all. There are characters and a story that draw you in in addition to the bonus of enlightenment. Love this book and its predecessor.
