A wonderful collection of stories. I can’t get enough Bradbury.
Ray Bradbury creates an alternate universe where [sometimes] normal people experience the bizarre. Some of these stories appeared in The Ray Bradbury Theater, an anthology show from the 80s. The Homecoming seems to be the precursor for his book From the Dust Returned. Despite the original publication dates in the 40s and 50s, these stories hold up well. An enjoyable autumn read that's a must for fans of Bradbury.
My experience with Bradbury has been all over the place: I've read three novels by him and loved one, hated another, and was indifferent toward the third. I think I'll stick with his short fiction going forward, because The October Country was a delight. There were a few stories that didn't work for me, but overall this is one of the strongest collections I've read. Atmospheric, over the top, and with some of the most haunting endings I may ever come across.

I really liked the lake and the scythe, some of these stories dragged on agonizingly to the point where I couldn’t even finish them worth enjoyment. That being said overall it was pretty good!

The Solace: A collection of the strange in the normal. These short stories are wildly haunting - Bradbury has an amazing talent for making the creepy and weird fit into the everyday scenario while still sending chills up and down your spine. It's the art of making it scary during the daytime. There were quite a few stories that just visually stuck in my brain days and now months after reading them.
The Dread: With most collections, a few were less impactful or memorable than the others, so sometimes it was a bit of a roller coaster that way.
Overall, I very much enjoyed this collection of odd short stories quite a bit. *shivers*
