I'm a big fan of Bradbury's work. And he's still cranking them out, too. Date read is approximate.

Absolute genius. Taking such simple aspects of life that the majority does not think about and adds creativity and macabre themes to it. Truly the best short stories I've ever read. Simple and straightforward, with a punch and shock factor.

October country is a great set of sometimes-horror stories. It balances the grotesque and magical with the horrifyingly mundane. Terror comes from both novel evils and the profound alienation of the ordinary: friends, family, strangers. Many of the stories capture the little personal drivers and fears that are universally common and bring them away from their logical conclusion to the scariest twist we imagine on grey days. It reads like a collection of personal nightmares but in that hopeful way that says yes your fears are understood and you are not alone in them, and look how beautiful life is that we want to keep it in all its complexity.

Deliciously creepy. Reading the short story "Skeleton" on the beach in bright sunshine was a somewhat surreal experience, but I read "The Cistern" on a rainy afternoon, which was the perfect setting. The story I loved the most in that book was "The Emissary," and I highly recommend you read it.

Bradbury is so simple to read. He feels like a sad poet, with death being an inevitable element in most of his stories. But it is not the death itself that captures attention, but rather the immediate suspense that captures right from the beginning. The feeling often is "Something is wrong" - and even if, in many cases, one can quickly understand what's wrong, it does not really matter, because the unravelling of the story is in itself a gripping experience...
Favourites: The Lake, The Emissary, Jack-In-The-Box, The Scythe, The Wind.

Some of the stories I liked more than others, but I love his writing so much that I always enjoy anything he has written.

This collection of short “horror” stories are still
Wonderful and easy to digest, but because of its time, doesn’t quite hold the same power. Not to say they are not good, they’re wonderful but feel like they would have been more as read back in it’s day. A couple of really good
Creepy ones like The Crowd still hold.

I’m such a fan of this man’s writing style and imagination he will always be one of the greats to me. The Martian Chronicles however will always be one of my favorites with the uniqueness of it all. So brilliant!

This collection of short stories was hit or miss for me. Some I loved, some were a bit of a slog. It is aptly named and has a delightfully fall feel to it. Honestly, I wouldn’t pass this up Ray Bradbury short stories paint such beautiful pictures...
