Well that was truly insane. I’m just glad Oliver is dead and rotting god bless
3.5
Okay okay okay
This was fun
Binge read in one sitting. Was very fast paced and easy to fly through.
I will say that this one was very predictable for me. Idk I worked out Red’s thing by the end of the 10pm section, and the rest of it was pretty easy to guess as we went through, but it was still really fast paced and enjoyable.
I will say though that Oliver just ground my gears, oh my lord. Like, I get that he was supposed to, but I literally couldn’t let myself enjoy the book because he was annoying me so much and I just wanted someone to punch him and shut him up so the plot could get moving again. Like this book was so Oliver dominant, and mans is the DEFINITION of white rich man, and it just did my head in. Again, I understand that this is the point, but it just meant that I couldn’t personally really get into it. I did like that his actions had actual consequences though, that was very satisfying.
Overall, it was a fun thriller, but I really feel like there needed to be more emphasis on most of the characters, as there were only six of them and the only ones with any real personality were Red and Oliver. Like Simon and Reyna could’ve been one person and it wouldn’t have changed anything, let’s be honest. Like you could split Simon’s entire characterisation and plot points between the others and you wouldn’t notice he was gone. Which was sad because he was honestly the most enjoyable.

“Was that fair? Maybe Red’s understanding of it was skewed, because it didn’t seem fair at all, her life in the hands of five other people. But when had life ever been fair to her, why should death be any different?”
OH MY GOODNESS! THIS WAS AMAZING!
Just literally no more words to describe this book. I would sell my soul to reread this for the first time.
Yes, it was a real plot twister but that ENDING.
For that last chapter I was really prepared to start crying. My eyes watered and everything- until that letter written which was beautiful and also a huge relief.
At first I thought this book wouldn't be as promising as 'A Good Girl's Guide to Murder' series but it really held out and became heart-wrenching by halfway through. And the ending almost ripped my heart out. I love Holly Jackson. Just thank you so much for this book and your others. Definently one of my favorite authors. And this book would be in my top favorite books. I'll want to reread this one for sure.
