This was amazing. An intense read for sure but a really important one. I love TIffany D. Jackson's writing, it's fantastic. I do want to re-read this at some point because now that I know the twist I can go back and read it with this new perspective. This does deal heavily with child abuse so definitely check content warnings before diving in.

It was heartbreaking but also hopeful at the same time. This book does shine a light on how children, especially children from marginalized communities, do not get the same attention as their white counterparts when something happens to them. This was so well done and I feel handled the subject matter with such empathy while not pulling punches and not shying away from those hard truths.

I'm really glad I read this and I'm very much looking forward to reading more of Tiffany Jackson's work.

I wasn't going to put this book down until I found out what happened to Monday. This was a good book and so sad. Monday deserved better. I gave the main character a lot of grace because she is literally a child (and handles situations like it). I can't imagine going through that so young and going through it alone for as long as she did before someone finally listened. It's really good, but I don't think I could ever read it again. Too sad.

I had no idea that this book was based on a true story. This is my first time hearing about this case, and it made me really sad.

This book really did piss me off, though, because in real life, there’s no way that a child can go missing and no one would notice. But then, I think about the real story. And I think that’s the point of this book. It sounds so egregious for us to Literally forget young black children, but it happens every day.

May God rest these young people souls. This was so sad.

This books feels very repetitive. Yeah, after a couple pages I got that Claudia is worried about Monday, that there might be abuse going on. I got bored and the jumping timeline was not for me, I prefer linearly told stories. I guess if I were much younger (15-ish), I'd have appreciated this book more.

WOW.
