Haunting, heartbreaking, and absolutely important. This book dives deep into themes of neglect of Black girls, abuse, mental health, and co-dependent friendship. The disorienting timeline was confusing at first, but it made sense as Claudia’s trauma came into focus. It was not an easy read, but it’s one that sticks with you — and it needs to be read.
