A fun read. I love film noir so this book series fills that fandom. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I’m going to keep reading these because the prose is really thirsty for the noir detective ghost, and I need to find out if they get married???

This book feels way older than it is, but it's cute enough. I'm not usually keen on a slice of paranormal with my mysteries, but it's kind of fun to see a noir-ish hero in a cozy world. Will probably look for others in the series down the road.

In my continuing quest for new mystery series, I came across The Ghost and Mrs. McClure, part of the Haunted Bookshop series by Alice Kimberly. The title reminded me of one of my favorite old movies -- The Ghost and Mrs. Muir -- so I decided to give it a try. To say that the plot borrowed heavily from the original would be an understatement. I finished the book but won't be reading any more from the series. However, the author did give credit to R. A. Dick who wrote the original book. This was a huge revelation! I didn't know the movie was based on a book! I got the library system's last remaining copy and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This book was a good mystery. I enjoyed the characters and I'm curious to see how the second book is.

Like this better than the coffee murder series

An amusing jaunt. The detective's use of slang was one part fun, one part confusing, because I'm not familiar with some of the terms.

Content warning: Suicide.

My only complaint is when the detective referred to someone who committed suicide as a coward. If you're sensitive to that or you know someone who had the same experience, I feel like that statement would be hurtful.
