Fun mystery about a book store specializing in mysteries.  At their very first author event, the author drops dead.  And a ghost who is haunting the bookstore helps the owner solve the crime. quirky combination of hard-boiled detective language, and publishing house politics. The audiobook was voiced by two people, the owner Penelope and the ghost.  This makes it fun.

I really enjoyed this book and plan to read more in the series! the main character Penelope owns a book store where a famous author drops dead while speaking about his books. There is also a detective haunting the bookstore who died there years and years ago, and he helps Penelope solve the murder. It was a great mystery and I really enjoyed the added paranormal element!

Cute and cozy murder mystery that takes place in a bookshop with a ghost detective.
It was a little predictable at times but overall it was a fun read and I enjoyed myself.

The Ghost and Mrs McClure was included in my audible membership so I just downloaded it. (Ok face it I have abibliiphobia!) It was really cute. I was not 100% at first. But it turned out to be a great, light read. I love Jack and Seymore. I loved that each chapter started with a quote. Also, there is a book 2 so I have another something to read so I never run out of somethings to read! It was cute and fun. If you want thought provoking and insightful, probably not the book for you. If you like somewhere to escape your life with a too nice bookstore owner and a hard-nosed ghost detective, with a little murder thrown in, then you should give it a go.

This seemed like such a hokey book when I looked at it. But, it drew me in and was a pleasant and quick read. A combination of 40's Detective novel and current day mystery. Jack, a detective from the past is now a ghost that reigns in Mrs. McClure's bookstore. She soon discovers that she can hear him in her thoughts and grows to accept his advice when trying to solve a murder that happened in the book store. It was a bit quirky and unbelievable, but that is what made it fun. I am ready to read book #2.

Good start to the series. I really look forward to discovering Jack’s story.

I am of two minds on this book. On one hand, the story was really fun, Pen was a pretty cute main character. I enjoyed that bit. On the other hand, Jack felt very fake, very cliche, and didn't really hold my interest. I was excited on the start for the possible budding romance of Pen and Jack, but I found I really don't care very much, since he is less of a person and more of a walking cliche.

Am debating on whether or not I want to read book two.
