I'm amazed how much I loved this book. So so so good. I cried a few times for Ella. I HATED her family for majority of the book but ended up liking them to a degree at the end. Juliette ended up being really cool after a while but I'm still not feeling the step-mom or Ana. The dad I'm torn on.

I dunno I'm at like 12% and I'm rolling my eyes. Everyone is annoying and I just can't right now. Maybe I'll finish it later.
2.5 stars This was a cute book, and not the light read I was expecting, which actually turned out to be a great thing. I thought the book brought a spotlight to a topic often forgotten in YA, and especially in romance: disabilities. The book highlighted a lot of issues, including blatant disregard for feelings of disabled individuals and how sometimes best intentions can still really miss the mark. I really appreciated that. I also really liked Ella 's family. Even though Ana was horrible, it was intriguing to see a version of Cinderella that actually had some semblance of a real family, and parents who at least had light-hearted intentions.
Unfortunately, there were a lot of lines in this book that made me cringe, and not from sadness or cheesiness, which is what I expected. There were a lot of things that were fairly insensitive, like how Ella's being Latina was only really brought up by other people because it made her "sexy," or the way Brian always calls her "woman." If a guy called me woman when he was frustrated with me, I'd slap him across the face. And Ella isn't exempt either, because calling something a "big gay man crush" is pretty offensive, no matter what date you come from and how long gay marriage has been legal there. I think this book had a lot going for it and some of the concepts were really fresh and interesting, even having just recently read a book like Geekerella. That said, racism, sexism, and homophobia, however subtle, are just not acceptable, and I hope authors, and the world, can realize that

So nice that disabled people CAN have happy endings - so rare in fiction! Light, predictable, straightforward writing style. Nice disability rep. Nothing too special but comfortable happy read
GOD I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. i hadnt read much the beginning of this year but this here book hooked me back on to the ya romance genre and began my search for more books like it. i utterly adored the relationship development that was made between ella and her family. the side characters are always what do it for me in books and the ones in this book were GRRRRREAT. ella's sister was amazing and her thoughtfulness for the family was really endearing. ella's new friend and her parents were so cute and helpful, i just wanted to meet them. and not to mention the romance. IT WAS SOOO CUTEEE. i loved it so much. briam was great and wonderful and i was rooting for him and ella so hard. the journey the two of them had to make to get to each other was so intriguing. i also loved yhe slightly dorky aspect of the book with the couple becoming becomes only because of their love of a certain book series. anyway, this book was great i loved it YAYAY
5 estrellas, ¿ya mencione lo mucho que amo a Kelly Oram?, ¿No?, Pues la adoro, una de mis escritoras favoritas, y despues de tanto tiempo, al fin pude leer este libro
The epitome of "don't judge a book by it's cover"
-At first glance, this book is clearly an early 00s teenage rom-com, but upon further inspection the author deals with heavy topics like suicide, death of family members and grieving, abandonment and most of all, the life and insecurities of burn victims.
-The main character suffered a terrible accident were 70% of her body was burned. She gets teased ruthlessly and is too insecure to wear short sleeves or shorts. Because of her accident, she thinks she's not worthy of being loved, she thinks no one could love her the way she is. On top of that she deals with a negative self image and grief of a family members death which ends up spiraling her into depression.
-This book was not a masterpiece by any means, but it makes you feel something (constant heartache lmao). I empathised so much with the main character, I didn't want her to forgive her dad. lol
Overall, I think I have a problem with forgiving people.... I hold a mean grudge! This is the second book I read where the MC's dad abandoned them and I just don't want the MC's to forgive them. You left, so you don't deserve to be forgiven. Especially in this book where he ran to another family and took in two other daughters smh.

Super cute retelling of Cinderella, and a great read for a short plane ride (and pick-me-up after a rough week).
