Such a sweet book. I actually did laugh and cry several times. Happy but not superficial YA fiction FTW. :)

YES. All the books by Kelly Oram. All of them. As this is the third book of hers I've read in as many days, I think it's appropriate that she takes a spot as one of my new favorite authors. I clearly am a sucker for romance, but there is none of the over-the-top mushiness that can easily take over a young adult book. I'm just about the read the sequel, which I'm sure will be just as good as the first.

Really enjoyed it, the plot is simple and very enjoyable

You know how you sometimes get in the mood for a certain type of book. This book was angsty, sappy, lovey, and happy. EXACTLY what I needed ~

This book was a refreshing twist on the traditional fairy-tale; updating it and changing enough of the roles in the storyline that it did not feel predictable. The books runs the gamut from pathos to rib-tickling humour and back, but it doesn't feel over-dramatized or whiny during the more emotional moments. I will be checking out more of this author's work.

I wasn't expecting to like this book so much, I thought it was one more fluffy read. And, although it was that, it was so much more. I really liked the relationship between Ella and her family and how it developed so much. There was so much character growth!

I laughed and I cried (really, in the bus... with people giving me weird faces). The book has its faults (I think some of the dialogue between Cinder and Ella was not natural and the book was better when they hadn't met each other), but I really loved it! Such a cute and touching story. Ella's difficulties were really difficult to read and my heart was a little broken for her. The only thing I had trouble with in that aspect was Ella saying "I'm having a panic attack" and then nothing happening or she said "I was distracted from my panic attack". I have dealt with those situations and, for me, there was no distraction from the panic attack . I don't know if this can happen or not, I'm just comparing it with my own experience.

In short, READ THIS BOOK!! It's funny, cute and has some heart to it.

Can't help but enjoy a young sappy romance book.

What a great book!
Despite the good rating, and my general interest in romance, AND having enjoyed a fairytale reimagining in the past year - I had low expectations. I don’t know why.

I was blown away. I loved the easy flow. I loved the characters. (They weren’t all good/nice but they were believable in many if not all ways.)

I loved the sass and banter. I hated the humiliation and the numerous heartbreaks. They were painful.

I laughed out loud. I gasped. I growled in anger. It was an emotional roller coaster. And I’ll probably have to do it all again when I read the next in the series.

Advice for any future readers: the prologue is NOT optional.
