The Man In The House is the first book in a brand new crime series featuring DI Helena Stratton and what a start!

I wasn’t to sure what to make of Helena to start with. She isn’t liking working with Andy, her partner, having a few issues with him. As the story goes along though and I got to know her better as well as her working relationship with Andy, it wasn’t long before I really got to enjoy her character.

The case itself had me gripped as I wanted to know more, especially about the killer. The authors weren’t giving anything away though and I loved the shocks and surprises as they came at me. Not only does it have Helena and her team on their toes, it had me on the edge of my seat also.

The Man In The House is an enthralling and nail biter of a read. The authors’ writing style has you turning those pages and fully engrossed in the story. The murders are gruesome and oh so thrilling. Can’t wait for more in the series.

My thanks to the authors’ for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

This was a fantastic book to read, it was a collaboration between Mel Comley and Emmy Ellis and it worked very well. The story was great and reeled you in from the start and I was hooked right until the end, read it in one sitting.

DI Helene Stratton is called out to a woman's dead body in the middle of the night. She doesn't disturb her partner DS Andy Mald as there is friction between them and she could do without his presence tonight. This killer seems to like strangling his victims but then mutates them in bizarre ways, gets more frightening as he carries on. He watches his victims, he waits then he strikes.

Fast paced and lots of descriptive writing to keep you on your toes, feel like you are there, actually living the story. It's the start of a new series and I'm already looking forward to the next book, can't wait. Mel and Emmy make a great writing duo!
