Really interesting book but the love story got in the way of the real story.

Thoughts On Plot: Just when it seems everything is going well, things start falling apart. It definitely gives you a thrill while reading it. The whole series has been like this. I've been on the edge of my seat reading them all. I've loved every single moment of it.
Thoughts on Characters: My favorite two characters will always be Richard and Kalan. The chemistry between the two of them is magnetizing. It's intense and strong. It's deep. Being bad with names becomes my downfall sometimes. There were so many good ones in this one. Including our dear Zedd. Who I wish I could have gotten to see more of in this book. I have to say I have grown a super soft spot for our Mord Sith, Cara in this book. I absolutely adore her. I may even add her to my book girlfriend list.
Narrated By: Dick Hill
Rating on Narrator: 3.5 out of 5 Stars
Thoughts On Audiobook: this is a different narrator than the first few books. I wouldn't mind because he did a completely amazing job. I loved his intensity! It also seems that every single book has had a different narrator. The problem is that he used different pronunciations than the other narrators. Especially with the name Kalan. Sometimes it took me a moment to realize he was referring to her.
Would I Recommend?: Hell yes. I need somebody to gossip about this book with!

Once again, Our Dear Mr. Goodkind shows that he has no other outlet for demonstrating how bad a Bad Guy is than by violently dehumanizing women. His fixation on sex is disturbing to the point that the meshing of sex and violence in a non-consensual manner was at times too difficult to read. I don't have problems with reading about sex, or sex that includes violence (in a consensual and respectful manner, a la [a:Jacqueline Carey|9237|Jacqueline Carey|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1205262579p2/9237.jpg]), but it was clear that he holds contempt for the lives of certain people that he deems less-than. The graphic violence that was reserved for women was disturbing, and distracted from the otherwise well-woven story, and the social more he was imparting was heard loud and clear.

Kahlan was terribly out-of-character in this book. You spend three books learning about the powerful and strong Mother Confessor, who now cries at the drop of a hat. She also unjustly receives the scorn of the consequences of prophecy. She is the convenient tool who receives the brunt of misunderstanding. Goodkind did not do his character well.

mon préféré peut-être, surtout pour une fois que Richard et Kahlan sont vraiment au même endroit.
Je l'ai lu et relu des dizaines de fois alors que j'étais coincée en Allemagne sans avoir rien d'autre à faire.

Amazing!

I almost gave up on this book and the series. It started out extremely slow and hard to gather interest in any of the storylines. Halfway through I still felt the same, but I kept clamoring away because I liked the first few books of the series. Luckily the last quarter of the book was mildly interesting that I was able to push myself to finish it. Not sure when I'll pick up the next book based on this effort.

8/10
Again, more violence and sexual sadism than I would prefer, but still, an absorbing story.
