I originally read a sample of this book and then wanted to read more. It took me a minute to find it to be able to finish it. It was cool. I have read better and worst. But it cool overall.
As a gossip girl lover, I will say that this book exceeded my expectations. I loved the plot, the twists, the romance, and the cliffhangers. I could not put this trilogy down. Blue is such a great character. The way she handles everything without complaining and basically ignores the shit West puts her through (except the video at the end), is amazing. I like that the readers understand West’s motivations for torturing her in the beginning of the book. I love that you can really see where West begins to care about her and where their relationship changes. I also like that he nicknamed her Southside (even though it was meant to be a dig at where she came from)...like they get together and he still calls her that it’s adorable.
The Golden Boys is the first book in the Kings of Cypress Prep series. This book is told from dual points of view from Blue and West. Blue has had a tough life. Her mother took off, and her father is an alcoholic. Her brother is in jail, and Blue has to take care of her 14 year old sister. She gets a scholarship to a better school, and while there she meets West.
West is one of the most popular boys on campus. The call him and his brothers the Golden Boys due to their last name. West finds something about Blue and wants to punish her for it. Blue doesn’t understand what West's problem is.
West and his minions keep doing things to Blue to make her life harder at this new school. West has conflicting feelings. He's mad at her with what he found, but he also has feelings for Blue. Blue won't just stand down, she fights back against West and his minions. She knows he has issues with her, but she has feelings for him as well.
When something bad happens at the end of the book will Blue take it or step up and get even. I can not wait to see where this book goes next. I'm curious to see what happens when West finds out everything is not as it seems.

Highschool bully romance... usually right up my street but something was just missing from this one. Maybe it was the pacing, or the way West hated Blue and how that developed into obsession/love... I can't put my finger on it.
I liked enough to finish but it's unlikely I'll continue the series even though I am intrigued as to why Blue's photos were on West's Dad's phone.
Maybe one day I'll dip back in but for now that's me and the Kings of Cypress Prep done.

I have to admit, the first 10-15% of this book I wasn't totally sure I was going to like it and I really struggled to stay wanting to read it but boy am I glad that I did!!!
This is a bully romance, which I will ALWAYS be a fan of. I have read tons of bully romance books and I have to say the reason he bully her is one I have never come across before so props for that. Although, I feel like if a conversation just would have taken place all of the conflict could have just been resolved.
Blue lives on the southside or the "wrong side" of the tracks. Her mother has just left her and her younger sister and older brother months earlier because of conflict with her father. Hunter ends up in jail, her dad is a drunk so poor Blue is really on her own to take care of the bills and Scarlett. She ends up getting a scholarship to Cypress Prep because Hunter applied in secret. I really like Blue, she was loving and strong but she also really needs someone to lean on. She has been dealt a shit hand and I think given her history she is doing the best that she can.
West Golden. King Midas. Okay y'all, I really did not like this dude until like 65%. He just seemed a bit stupid to me and for a while i just couldn't connect to his character. He digs through his dad's safe in order to find a credit card after being put on a money ban, and finds a burner phone in his dad's safe with a nude photo of Blue on it and from there without asking questions he decides he is going to ruin Blue's life.
I felt the chemistry between Blue and West. But for a while I have to admit, I was totally shipping her with Ricky aka SeXy BeAsT. She can have West and I will take Ricky off her hands. LMAO Ricky is Blue's ex but he is still there for her and definitely cares for her and wants to be there to protect her. He definitely makes the King jealous whenever he is with our girl Blue.
There definitely were some plot points going on in the background that I found extremely interesting and I can't wait to find out with the hell is going on. I wanna know who Casey is because West keeps dropping her name and i just need the TEA!! I NEED to know why pervert Vin has Blue's nudes on his phone and who took them. I also want to know what da hell Hunter was talking about when Blue went to visit him in jail.
THE WAY THIS BOOK ENDED!!!!! Y'all i did not walk i ran to get the next book. West all i know is my girl blue and i need you to GROVEL sir. You did us WRONG honey and we will not take it. but y'all know my man Ricky came rescue Blue. Anyways i am diving into book 2, i gotta know how this is all going to play out!!
