خیلی داستان معمولی داشت، نه پیچیدگی ای نه شخصیت پردازی خاصی
شاید برای شروع این ژانر جالب باشه

There wasn't anything wrong with this book, but it didn't do much to grip my attention. I didn't connect with the characters or plot and this just felt like another YA fantasy. With all the hype this one had, I really was expecting more.
3,5/5

Brutality. Survival. The world of the narrows is so cutthroat that it isn't safe to love another person... or is it? This book kept me turning pages with its fast pace. However, it felt like a greater purpose was missing amidst the nonstop quest to survive. I'm not sure I'll read any more in this series.

I feel so conflicted about this read…
First, I want to start off with the fact that Adrienne Young is one of my favorite authors, and the way she crafts a world is so beautifully done. No one writes “vibes” the way she does. I also am aware that her writing isn’t fast, and takes some time to get used to, as well as it’s very atmospheric and descriptive. She’s one of the only authors who can write in that style and keep my attention, and I love it!
Pros: obviously, the world building was incredible. I felt like I could vividly visualize where the story took place and the atmosphere Adrienne created. The way she describes “salt water on the skin” or the look of a person during a scene, is so incredibly detailed, and I felt so connected to this book. I will also say that the last 30% of the book was SO good! The plot finally started to get somewhere, and the ending !!!!
Cons: unfortunately, the storyline and the relationships fell so flat for me. This was a difficult read, in the sense that it never really felt like it had the overall goal. There were small goals and achievements fable had for herself throughout this book, but I truly never felt like I knew what the greater purpose of this book was. There were also SO many plot points that were not further developed or explained. I am also not a huge fan about the characters’ development. It was such a slow build, and then out of NOWHERE, everyone became besties and/or lovers. There was no build up and it went from 0 to 100 in a snap.
No with all that being said, I did enjoy the book! The world building alone was such a strong story that I was hooked and never wanted to leave this world! I believe I will read the second one and I’m excited to continue!
