Overall the story was good, but it just didn’t resonate with me right now. I never found myself sucked in not wanting to put the book down. I also thought it started kind of slow and then I had to re read bits because I was lost at what happened a lot.
I am still curious about the mystery with her dad and what will happen next, so I may pickup the sequel at some point, but not in a rush.

First of all, I can't get over the beautiful cover. It's what first drew me to the book, and then the description finished the job. Sometimes I'm a little worried about reading a book that I'm highly anticipating because it's easy to be let down by them, but luckily that's not the case with Fable.
It's an action-packed adventure on the high seas, full of interesting characters and wonderful world building. I can still picture the ships, ports, and cities so clearly in my mind. The descriptions were incredibly detailed, but I never felt bogged down by too many details.
Adrienne Young's writing is exquisite, and the story flowed so well that it was hard to put the book down at times.
There's a large cast of characters, and I tried to narrow down my favorites, but it's just too hard. I adored Fable herself. She's a fantastic character - strong and capable of taking care of herself, yet flawed and far from perfect.
I loved pretty much all of the characters, to be honest. Some I loved for themselves, and some I loved to hate.
The entire crew of the Marigold was fantastic and I want to know more about all of them. Hopefully, we learn more about their backgrounds in the next book.
I don't want to share any spoilers at all, so I'm not going to talk about one of my favorite parts of the book, but I will say I was very happy with one of the relationships! I'm dying to talk about it with someone, so I can't wait for more people to read the book!
But that cliffhanger. I need the next book NOW. I cannot wait to find out what happens next.
This is one that I would highly recommend!

✨ 4/5 ✨

Beautiful writing. Beautiful imagery. Fantastic story. I was glad to see Fable’s character arc resulted in more than just a love story. She grew and learned and let go of so much. I’m looking forward to reading Namesake whilst drinking black tea!
Fable is a bad ass FMC. She was born and raised aboard the Lark, the ship her father commanded. Her mother had a natural talent for finding precious gems and she made sure to teach Fable the language of each gem.
Now, Fable is stranded on Jeval, an island straight out of Pirates of the Caribbean. On an island full of thieves and dredgers, Fable learnt how to survive, how to fight and how to hide her valuables. She worked hard to save money to buy passage on a ship and find her father.
It’s not going to be exactly a heart warming reunion and Fable is weighting her options. The crew she sailed with on West’s ship is warming up to her. All of them are very young and have been through a rough life and they rely on one another. Which is why I think that if you’ve read Six of crows and loved it, then you would like this one for sure!
It ends on a cliffhanger so make sure to have the sequel handy because I couldn’t grab it fast enough!
