What a beautiful story about a broken relationship between daughter and father. I loved how descriptive this story was and the grief the author works through. I can’t wait for book two!
3.5 it could easily be bumped up to a 4 star book if the sequel helps it along. However, who knows if I will even care to read it by the time it comes out.
There was much to love and equal measure to not to love. So I am torn. I still think it should be read because it’s entertaining but I wasn’t DYING to finish it either.
I really just wish authors would write a whole series and then release on book, wait two months, release the next one, and so on.
I lose interest in book series way too often. Plus having to reread the ones I love. Ugh. So annoying.

I would give this a 2.5 stars (rounding up). Overall the story lacked substance. There was little to no character development, the “love interest” was much too quick and the non-romantic relationships were thin.
Don’t get me wrong I love a pirate novel, the setting was great. World development was poorly done, but we can all picture Pirates of the Caribbean, not hard to do.
I really want to know more about Saint, he is really the only character that caught my eye. I will be reading the next book as well as the prequel (for his story alone).
Subtract 1-2 sentences from this book and I think it would be best categorized as Teen. Writing was too simple for YA.

Mixed feelings about this: Extremely good world-building but a boring plot.

3.5 starts rounded up.
I am glad this will have a sequel because it ended on such a cliffhanger. This book set up what I am sure will be an interesting storyline and I am excited for Namesake.
