"People always say you have to be happy with yourself first before you can find happiness with someone else. There’s truth to that, Jackie. But honestly, there’s something to be said for finding that person who reminds you how happy life can be."

It’s young adult which I knew but it’s voices and the characters were a little too young for me. I couldn’t get interested.

Could've, should've, would've, and all of the consequences if you fulfilled any of those.
Jack has a really great support system Franny is right when he said Jack has everything. But at the first few pages he'd tell us he's a guy of 'almost' and I wonder maybe it's not too fulfilling if you have everything but not one something great. Maybe each of us wants that one great thing to latch on to, to make what is enjoyable and more bearable.
Angie Thomas in her blurb said Jack is the hero we've been waiting for. I'm still first few pages in (well, after the prologue) and I agreed. Jack is so charming and so witty that I think very few writers were able to capture. A down on his luck protagonist who is not the heartthrob and quite the introvert but is smart and a nerd; this have been a male protagonist in a love story ever, I feel. But the writing here by Justin Reynolds, I don't know. I can't quite figure it out yet. But how Jack conversed (and narrated) with Kate on that icky stairs.. he made Jack so charming and witty but not too much and not condescending. And Jack's relationship with Franny, I like that. Rarely were two male be vulnerable towards each other especially between Black and Afro-Latino. It's not just as brothers but bestfriends.

two stars ∗ this was a pretty fun read! i loved the concept and the characters, but overall i just felt like this story was lacking something? the writing wasn’t my favorite, and it seemed a bit too long, in my opinion. i still enjoyed reading it though!

Charming, quirky, adorable, heartwarming, positively hilarious! This book was such a refreshing read after my prior read which was a pretty heavy topic.

I loved ALL the characters! Jack, Kate, the parents, Franny, sometimes Jillian! Lol. I even liked the deadbeat dad, but only because he got honest and real and it ripped at my heartstrings when he broke down to Jack Attack (yes, I did find that cheesy name, adorable). The side characters all had personalities and different stuff going on in their lives and they were a very present force throughout the entire story. Sure, Jack got lost in Kate, but what did we really expect from a teenage boy who had his first real love? He tried to do everything in power to save that which became precious to him. As you naturally would when you’re in love.

The parents were gross in that way you find them to be when you’re a teenager who can’t imagine your parents having such a healthy relationship. I loved how they had a real bond with their son and not your typical teenager angst of ‘my parents don’t like me’ boohoo that is oft portrayed in YA.

Kate sometimes felt like just the sick girl, but this story wasn’t about her- rather, it was centred on Jack’s reaction to her death and his seeming never ending trips to save her. Oh, it was wonderfully done and I loved every moment of it.

Banter- humorous and charming. Chemistry- natural and easy. Leads- LOVABLE. The banter had a very nerdy charm to it and reminded me of my own flashbacks to my own conversations with my friends and crushes or exes.

Beautiful book, easy to read. And the narrator for the audio book did a wonderful job!

Absolutely fantastic! Loved it.

so I don't think I enjoy books that involve time travel that much.
this just felt boring, I skipped a good part of the last quarter of the book cause it dragged on.
The characters are really great though

would 100% advise you check the triggers before reading!

DNF after 130 pages.

This didn't do anything for me...except to annoy me with the weird nicknames a bit I guess.

It was so boring and random that I really don't want to finish it.
