Stunning writing about a time and place I know nothing about. I did find it very long and I lost interest during a large chunk of it. Definitely a book to take your time with

A wonderful book. Moving between two time periods (early 60s & late 60s), Adichie tells the story of civil war in Nigeria. Not only was I intrigued by the plot, but I was learning a lot throughout - what one always hopes for with works of historical fiction.

Through the perspectives of various characters, Adichie poignantly captures the troubled experiences of many African countries post-secession - borders of the country not matching ethnic boundaries & the struggles that followed.

Overall, a very enlightening read.
