It started wonderfully showing the life and customs of Nigerian people, explaining the war and it's terrible consequences from a local perspective. However, the story itself ends up it being shallow and boring. It was an effort to finish it, really.

Book club pick, and my first audio book.
I'm honestly not sure about this book. I liked it in the sense that I learned a lot about Nigeria as I had no idea about this conflict. However, whilst the chapters were quick and there was a lot going on, I did not have the same pull to the characters. The twist at the ending was nice, but overall a bit meh. Also, I just could not take to Ugwu he annoyed me from the first pages.
