Desde que leí “Americanah” sabía que había conectado profundamente con la manera de escribir de Chimamanda, pero no había podido volver a leer nada de ella hasta volver a mi casa. “Medio sol amarillo” llenó completamente mis expectativas, conectándome con una historia que me tocó fibras y que hizo que me interesara por buscar y aprender más de la historia nigeriana, que me mostró una evolución de personajes que sentí cercana y que me tuvo prácticamente pegada al libro desde la primera página.
Mención especial a la traductora, que hizo un gran trabajo para que la historia se sintiera fluida y para que alguien como yo, que usualmente no soy amiga de las traducciones, se sintiera cómoda y feliz con esta lectura.

am i being an asshole for saying i wouldnt have care if anybody but Kainene had died? i mean for all the stupid mistakes Ugwu did, for the rape alone, he shouldnt even have came back living with olanna and odenigbo. and dont get me even started on these two and all the selfish, stupid, and horny things they did. i mean there is a time and place for this but right now? really? and i really dont care if people defend their actions or say it was their way to cope and distract themselves from the atrocities of war, my point still stands. and fuck richard too, he didnt deserve Kainene AT ALL. he was the character i hated the most. all the time looking for praise bc he speaks Igbo even tho hes white. i dont give a fuck! all the time whining bc Africans dont see him as one of their own. i mean, open your eyes and use your brain for a change, richard! why are you so entitled to think they have to accept you and dont see yourself as one of their oppressors just bc you sleep with a black woman and more or less live here.
