Wonderful piece of historical fiction with many events historically accurate.

Fascinating and surprisingly propulsive historical fiction based on true events. Highly enjoyed.

4.5 stars. Loved the content and writing style.

A lot of science
Plus mystery and intrigue
Good story to tell

I wanted to like this book more than I did, but every time I thought Paul was going to grow as a person he made the same mistakes. Plus there are sizable passages where the narrative comes to a screeching halt in favor of a history lecture or philosophical rumination.

A fictionalized account to the current wars between Edison and Westinghouse. The storytelling is a bit tedious, though it’s an interesting story. Much more “telling” than “showing” so there were quite a few info dumps.

The Last Days of Night by Graham Moore is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in late July.

Inspired and supercharged with masterful storytelling, Paul Cravath's legal associations and run-in's with Westinghouse, Edison, Tesla, and a stage actress named Agnes Huntington are written in a way that's beyond alt/sci-fi, beyond 'steampunk,' and is a class all unto its own. I ended up learning the basics of electrical power and that Moore's depiction of Tesla's broken English dialogue and specific idiosyncrasies (like eating meals in quantities of a cubic volume divisible by 3) is incredibly witty.

I didn't find the plot interesting at all (maybe you will if you like lawyer books).

There is way more fiction than fact - I understand this is historical fiction, but so much had been twisted and/or completely fabricated. Some surface facts are correct, but don't think you're getting anything choose to what actually happened

I had a good time reading this speculative historical fiction. The prose was well written, blending the historical and speculative aspects very well. It really showed us what was going on instead of telling us how it went. The story was compelling while remaining realistic and was super entertaining. The characters felt super realistic and were super interesting and likeable. The interactions between characters as well as their personalities/traits/etc. felt natural, especially with the eccentric genius Nikola Tesla. It's not your typical historical fiction and I really did like and enjoy reading this book. I will most likely be acquiring a physical copy at some point to add to my physical library instead of borrowing a digital ebook from my library as I did like this one.
