DECEMBER 2017 BOOK CLUB:

I really loved this book. I personally don't know very much about the culture of invention during this time period (and before and after), so this really was enlightening for me.

After I finished the book and read that all the people as well as the story were real, it took on much more meaning for me. I loved the character of Paul, how much he wanted to prove, but also his moral compass. Moore did a fantastic job of making the characters come to life and making me feel for the characters. There was a point in there where I really felt sad because nothing was working out for Paul despite all his efforts.

I would have loved to feel a little more connection between Paul and the other characters in the book. I felt a little unconvinced of his chemistry with Agnes, of his friendship with Tesla, and of his relationship with Westinghouse. I loved Paul's character, but his interactions with other characters didn't quite seem real enough for me.

So excited to see this movie! Overall great story that was well told (I also loved the subject matter-- I feel like I learned a lot about electricity!).

I had no idea what this was about when I started reading it and it turned out I really enjoyed it. It was a little different than the typical historical fictions I read, but I still felt like I was right there experiencing it with the early American inventors and I learned so much in the process.
