Pretty good for a debut. Lacking in areas like world development and magic system explaining though. I appreciated all the culture stuff, but also wish it leaned in more heavily on it. Some parts of the novel felt like a whim. Not sure how I feel about the extended bit after Elle comes back to life as a human. I lost a lot of interest after that. Almost like I didn't want it. I would've rather it ended there with an epilogue that didn't go into detail about it... The parts after she comes back as a human kind of reminds me of side stories; they're just not labelled as such.
