As someone who only reads books for entertainment purposes and has no standards... I genuinely loved this book it was so immersive to me and it was soneasy to read I couldn't put it down!

I really ended up liking this book. In the beginning I did find it hard to follow sometimes since the scenes would jump from one to another. I also was a little confused on the trails for a moment but it was only because of how I was expecting each trial to have multiple in one. For me the book didn’t grasp me at first. It picked up and got better around 25% through. I ended up loving the last 30%. The plot twist I did expect but I did not expect to see Lysta go through another trial. I would love to see if she ends up trialing at all of the other courts. The fact that this ended on a small cliffhanger is upsetting since I wont get to read the next one for awhile

I won’t lie this book took me a little while to get into. Until 34% it was quite slow, by 41% I was intrigued and by 55% I was invested. The book was good, really unique structure, interesting character and the deceit had you mouthing ‘what?’ Personally for me the trials, the learning of magic and the all encompassing passion - banter between her and Torryn left me wanting. I would definitely recommend the book, killer cliffhanger and heaps of room to build in the next book - I am thorough invested in what will happen in book 2!

I was randomly selected as an ARC reader, my very first and can I just say - I feel privileged and have the utmost respect for Lauren for writing her book, her world.

I was on the edge of my seat reading this. As you progress through the book, the intensity amplified until the end. I really love the idea of the trials and I kept wondering if I would do it if I was in this world. Can't wait for the next book!

This book is definitely worth your time! One critique I had was that the plot moved just a bit too slow for my taste. However, in my years of reading and writing, I have learned that this can sometimes be an objective opinion. Some people prefer faster moving plots, whereas others are chill with slower and more relaxed books, and that's okay!
No spoilers here, but the ending just blew me out of the water... if you are partway through this book and are thinking that things are going a little slow, hang on. It's all going to be worth it, I promise :)
Lauren, thank you so much for the ARC! Somehow my original review got deleted, so here it is again.....

I could not stop reading it! It was an emotional rollercoaster.

That ending made me feel like I was getting stabbed, I need the second book ASAP!

This book was quite refreshing for me.
I've been reading A LOT of romantasy with meh/basic fantasy aspects- this was refreshing and unique with a romance subplot, which left a lot more room for the unique system (I didn't know how much I was missing that until I read War Hour).

Started off heavily discussing deadly trials and I thought "oh great, another trials/Hunger Games book". I was pleasantly surprised when the trial happened, it was interesting and important, and it was over. XD Short and sweet. The book has trials but it is not a trials book*

Court politics, gladiator style fights, deadly trials, romantic subplots- I enjoyed the characters and their interactions. Can't wait to read book two!

"War is coming, and it will not confine itself to an hour."

"Treaty or not, call her that again, and I will bring war upon you myself."

"I will not give them my tears as their victory."

War Hour is without a doubt one of best books I've read this year! The only thing I hate is that I have to wait for book two to be released!
Lauren took all my favorite books, combined them, and made an even better read! The character development was incredible; the world building even more so! It had plot twists that left my jaw on the floor and me screaming at the pages! I love how the characters were written and described, so detailed and realistic that I felt like I was in Aloria with them. The romance was the perfect amount, mixed with an incredible plot for those who want a romantasy like no other. This book will without a doubt be the next #1 bestseller.
