The music and narration are super cheesy. I read this book about 20 years ago and found it quite profound at the time. Now it just seems kinda grandiose with a decent underlying message that can be found elsewhere.

Lackluster writing style is balanced out to some degree by an interesting concept that encourages a lot of self-reflection on the reader's part. I wish I could give it a higher rating, but there were just too many instances where I found myself wishing that I could just re-write the entire book, because I could make the prose suck less, without even trying.
This is my second time reading this book, as I didn't quite "get it" the first time. I wanted to give it another try & read the whole series. Although it did make more sense to me, I still didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I might. It just didn't really hold my interest! I enjoyed the spiritual aspect of it, but the plot itself seemed...boring.
4 for the message, 3 for the plot which could at times get way too drawn out and predictable. Still the concepts are lovely.
boring. tried to teach me things. ew.
I thought the book seemed to unnecessarily explain these insights through dialogue. No spoiler to plot here... the last page of the book offers a subscription to the author's monthly newsletter about the ideas brought forth in the book. I feel duped that this man's ideas were presented in a fictional manner to get people to read them. Present your book for what it was intended and I would respect it more.
