DNF around 45%. I really wanted to like this because it's themes are all totally my thing- fear, women coming of age, wolves, etc.
However, as other reviewers have said 'meandering' is exactly the word I'd use to describe it. I felt as though the narrative couldn't decide on what it wanted to say and where it wanted to go, peppered with tangents that didn't seem entirely relevant. Overall the writing is enagaging and the topics themselves are interesting, including the autobiographical bits, it ultimately felt too aimless. Plus, while I very much appreciate the intersectionality, it also seemed like almost everything was asterisked with "Disclaimer: I'm privileged and I want you to know that I know that other people have it worse", which was tiresome after a while.
The author is also almost constantly quoting others which, again, is appreciated until it's happening many many times per chapter.

A well written, contemplative book on topics of interest to me that never quite hooked me. I feel bad that I couldn’t give it the focus it deserved.

I had high hopes for this book, but I struggled to finish it. It was half memoir and half stories about wolves in Oregon. I didn’t really get the parallels between the two, although they were intertwined throughout the chapters. I felt like a lot of the personal stories were incomplete and left me wondering what the resolution was.
