Not what I was expecting. I did not find myself connecting to Berry and her stories. There were several times I found myself frustrated and even angry at her narrative. If you are looking for a meandering “memoir” that has to work really hard to connect it to sad stories about wolves this book is for you.

I liked the parts about the wolf pack in Oregon, and the parts where Berry talked about wolf stories (think little red riding hood and such) and how those shape and reflect our culture. The other third, more memoir-y part was less good to me. Overall, the book felt pretty disjointed until the end, but parts were interesting.
