Light, suspenseful read. I prefer Edgar Wallace over Agatha Christie as his books are more lively and suspenseful and much more happens, whereas Christie's books are comparably boring in the middle part until Poirot suddenly comes up with a fantastic, unexpected solution on the last few pages. Still great writing though.

Honestly I didn't find myself to care about any of these characters like I have in other Poirot books. I was happy that Japp was once again working with Poirot but otherwise this fell a bit flat for me.
Fun, but coming so closely on the heels of the Three Act Tragedy the murderer felt a bit recycled, non? The motive and opportunity were dicey too, I preferred the faux drama of the murder to the messy culmination.

I could remember ONE THING about this book, and luckily it was the one thing that identified the murderer early on. Thoroughly enjoyable.
