AAAAAAAAAAA I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! THE CHARACTERS, THE LOVE STORIES, THE FRIENDSHIPS!!!
I picked this as my Amazon's first reads pick because it was a pride and prejudice retelling set in college. I was bored and didnt like reading from Will's POV.

You can pin point some similarities in the plot, and identify which modern character represents which P&P, but this is in no way a retelling. A more apt description would be "loosely inspired by".
Frustrated at how things are just poof! fixed! Such as when the issues with Jordan and the actress ex (can't remember her name) simply disappear.
A saccharine read with a fun twist but you can pass it without missing much.

I had to quit on this because it was so bad. The writing is just awful and juvenile (one of the characters, who is supposed to be in college, legitimately says “You bet your buns!” non-ironically). I’ve read a lot of fun retellings of Pride and Prejudice that are fun and interesting. This isn’t one of them. Yikes.
I was rooting so hard for this book. I love a re-telling, I love getting diverse characters. I wanted so badly to love this, but I just... I didn't. I finished it, but I was forcing myself to by about 30% in. The writing felt stilted, character perspectives appeared and were never heard from again. I didn't hate this, but man was I disappointed.
this was a great retelling of Pride and Prejudice. It was a little beat-for-beat which is okay and the ending was rushed which is also okay but the two put together cost the book about a star. Anyway it was good and if you liked P&P you should read it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this modern & inclusive retelling of Pride and Prejudice! It felt familiar yet fresh, with characters that were loosely modeled after the OG Elizabeth & Darcy, while still having their own unique character traits. Our leading lady, EJ, is still finding her path as an engineer, and the reader gets to tag along as she learns a few things about herself and her tunnel vision. At the same time, she meets grumpy Will who is working through his own issues after a nasty breakup. From this rocky soil and after misunderstandings and assumptions are overcome, they make an unexpected connection. I loved the setting, the characters, and the emphasis on girl power and friendship. This is a fun book that tackles tricky topics with a serious yet light hand. A very impressive debut novel from Eden Appiah-Kubi!
lol it took me so long to finish this, but not because it's bad, education is just more important in these trying times. I adored EJ and I really felt like we were best friends by the end of the novel. This book is oftentimes compared to Pride and Prejudice the novel, and I would say it's very similar to the Pride and Prejudice (2005) movie rather than the actual novel by Jane Austen. Because I like the 2005 movie so much, it read very easily and it was really easy to predict when things would happen.
The book was like a warm toasty blanket of sisterhood that I miss having with my dearest friends when I was in college. It was a nice escape from everything going on and I do recommend it for those days when you just want to be with friends again.
