This has been recommended left and right and, especially since I adored Assistant to the Villain, thought it was time to have a go and y’all…I was soooo bored!

Where is this so-called intriguing villain?? To me, Damien came off a bit creepy rather than morally grey. Amma was no better, outside of her kind heart, and them together just didn’t do it for me.

People saying it takes a while to get going - yeah that rang true and I only found it got interesting from the ~65% mark. Just interesting enough that I’ll try book 2 and see how that goes, but yeah, a bit of a letdown for me with this one.

Terry Pratchett-esque romantasy that’s funny without being cringey and has very classic quest elements. Delicious. Give me ten more. It honestly might get upgraded to 5 starts. I just don’t know how much it’s going to stick with me for months/years after reading.
