Too childish. FMC kept apologizing and not saving herself
Not engaging enough, a bit too childish for me

I found the narrative style really interesting—it’s third-person omniscient, but only reveals what you need to know in the moment. That means secrets are still hidden from the reader, just like Amma and Damien keep things from each other, which added to the tension and mystery.
The world-building is solid and detailed, but the first few chapters were a bit slow as a result. It wasn’t poorly done—just dense with information that took a little while to settle into.
This is definitely a slow-burn romance. Midway through the book, I found myself wondering why the two leads were still considered enemies, and even by the end, they’re only just starting to see each other differently. There’s no insta-love here, but there’s plenty of mutual pining, which I appreciated.
I also really liked that both Amma and Damien are on parallel quests tied to people they care about. It’s refreshing to see that kind of dual motivation instead of one character being more central than the other.

Villains and Virtues was the first set of books I bought for my trophy shelf. Damien Bloodthorne is my #1 favorite MMC in the romantasy genre and the writing with subtle humor and world building was so perfect!
Couldn’t follow along. I want to try again.
