Although I read this pretty quickly, I felt disappointed at the story as a whole. The absolute obsession of Samantha and Xavier from first sight was too insta love for me. The lengths they went to for someone they went on one date with was unrealistic. Plus, I kept getting pulled out of the story with the pop culture references and slang.
I also hated the way the family was portrayed in such a one dimensional and somehow okay with the dad cheating on their mom?!

Abby Jiminez never disappoints. This book was truly lovely. One of the main critiques I’ve heard of this book is that it’s “depressing” or “too sad for a romance” but I think this book perfectly portrayed how that’s just how life can be sometimes ya know? This book was just a snip of a season of Samantha’s life and that season was HARD. When it rains it pours. It’s a beautiful depiction of how real that is. I also think that one of the marks of growth in writing is navigating the world of transitioning from majorly spice heavy books to closed door romance where it was very apparent that the characters had love and lust for each other. Abby did that beautifully in this story.

My one qualm is the mentioning of Rhysand lol that really won’t age well….

There’s just something about an Abby Jimenez book! I loved this book so much and never wanted to put it down. Xavier and Samantha are definitely put through the wringer in terms of their separate lives and their relationship, but you know Abby is always going to give a HEA! I highly recommend this one!

This book absolutely wrecked me. I had tears for most of it but at the same time loved the characters

As a daughter of veterinarians and a granddaughter of two grandparents with dementia, this hit home hard. If you are a caregiver, especially for a loved one with dementia, then this book may be very triggering for you. That being said, I really enjoyed the love story. It was sweet and did not have my least favorite trope (miscommunication trope). The resolution wasn’t very realistic, but hey, it’s a book and I still enjoyed it. Overall, a decent and very sweet read. If you are looking for drama, this is not it.
