DID NOT FINISH: 36%

I wouldn’t have bought this had I known about the
gigantic super detailed dementia plot.
It’s really, really sad and hard to read and I cannot stress enough how much tears are not something I want in a romance. I don’t want to be reading a romance thinking about my grandma and my dad and the most difficult parts of my life. I also can’t stand the constant little TikTok references. “She changed my DNA” It was a date. “It was a core memory.” You can’t say that ten seconds after something ffs and also it was a first date. “He imprinted on me.” Are you Jacob in Twilight? “We had a trauma bond” Oh for god’s sake, you were
stuck in a room together
. And finally, “he looks like rhysand” please stop.

5⭐️ | 0.5🌶️

Did this book wreck me?✅
Were there at least five points throughout my reading where I ugly cried? ✅
Is there a picture of me after the last ugly cry? 🤷🏻‍♀️😬 that’s between me & Snapchat.
Did I love this book? 💯

This was a 5⭐️ read for me. I also had an immersive reading experience, reading the physical book while listening to the audiobook, possibly amplifying my emotional response. But also, life is happening and there are certain parts of the book that hit close to home.

I’ll share one of my favorite, non-spoilery quotes which helped bring on the feels:

“[T]here is nothing more beautiful than being a witness to someone’s life. To know them inside and out and be with them through everything, share the same memories. Memories are everything. I want that.”

This book had me in love at 6% and bawling from 19% until the end. I absolutely loved Samantha and Xavier. How hard they worked to be together. Xavier is an absolute sweetheart and sacrifices so much to keep Samantha in his life.

With Samantha’s mom’s dementia playing a major role in this story, my heart absolutely shattered. The pain of losing someone who’s still physically there was beautifully written. It was reminiscent of my experiences with loved ones who’ve had dementia, so being mindful of your triggers and what you can handle would be best before starting this.

I can always count on Abby for a wonderful love story.

She seems to outdo herself with each and every book and this one is no different. While Just for the Summer may still be my favorite, this one is a super close second!

I felt ALL of the emotions. It was funny, sweet, and emotional. Sometimes it’s so easy to get attached to characters that you almost feel what they would be feeling with them during the hard times. And this book definitely had some hard times.

It also feels like even though the MC’s are far apart, their time together is quality time and it’s written in a way that you almost don’t notice they are apart for a lot of the story. That aspect was so well done!

I never thought I’d enjoy a story about a couple struggling through a long distance relationship and navigating some TOUGH family/life issues but… here we are! I loved every bit of this.

And as always, humor and banter was perfection!
