there are better abby jimenez books and this one was not it.

the characters are hooked from the first date and it feels very fast. some argue that sam is lovable but I’m unsure as to how by the lack of development early on. they go back and forth in a LDR, but we don’t feel their longing and how hard it is for them until the end where finances and health is impacted. this book could’ve captured the yearning and difficulties that come from being +2k miles apart.
that way the happy ending is even happier.
i got through this book a lot faster than any of her other books

What would happen if you met the love of your life but she was moving 2,000 miles away the next day?

This book broke me. I lost track of how many times I cried. You could really see and understand how much Xavier and Samantha loved each other and tried as hard as they could to fight for each other.

The premise itself reminded me a little of The Sun is Also a Star with the way those characters fell in love in a day but there was the impending doom of having to leave the next day. But of course this is it's own star-crossed lovers tale where we get to see the months of Xavier and Samantha falling in love even with the limits of their long distance relationship. This is 100% a book about soulmates separated by distance.

As with all of Abby's books there are so many tough topics dealt with in SYRM. There are money struggles, sick family members, grief, job insecurity, animal cruelty, and more touched on within this book and they're all handled so well in my opinion. I really felt the pain and difficulties these characters went through in my heart. As I said, I lost count of my cries because this book was just that emotional.

Xavier was the perfect man - he was so dedicated to his work and incredibly passionate about every animal he met. Samantha was strong and quirky - she immediately proves Xavier wrong and she continues to be a total force. I loved the way they came together and the pacing of everything. There wasn't a long "will they, won't they" period of time, they communicated well, and I understood all the choices they made (no matter how difficult). This was truly a powerful and well-written love story.

Excellent book. While not my favourite ever by Abby, it was a gem.

Now.. If I hadn't returned the audiobook without writing the quote out about Xavier's parents believing that he would be a failure in life and when he wasn't, trying to take his success as something they were involved in.

Feel free to help me out :)

I am not as good of a person as Samantha and Xavier. It may have something to do with my relationship with my parents but I could not give up my life to live in the hell that was caring for her mother. It was too much for that whole family to bear.

This may be my least favorite Abby Jimenez book. Does that make it bad? No. But it does fall at or close to the bottom of my list of her books.

Say You'll Remember Me has much less romance than her last series & more sadness and trauma. Now, all of her books have those elements within the story, but it definitely plays a larger role in this installment. Additionally you get much less of the romance on the page since the characters are in a long distance relationship. It's more tell than show which did not draw me in the way her romances typically do. There are some very challenging scenes around dementia & being a caregiver that many may find super triggering. It's a huge part of the plot, so please read with care.

I loved the characters in this book!  The funny moments were hilarious, and I definitely cackled multiple times while reading this. I did dip into the audio as well & think the narration is excellent.

Spoiler:
I struggled with the infidelity side plot. It felt like a really serious issue that wasn't adequately addressed & honestly it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I was blessed with my preorder arriving early, and wow. Abby never fails to amaze me.

The characters in this book are so complex and dynamic. Their interplay is beautiful with each other and secondary characters.

The themes of this book are certainly difficult emotionally, but written with delicacy and sensitivity to those who may be going through similar issues. They’re truly heart wrenching at times, all thanks to the beautiful writing.

Another great novel!
