The Moonshiner's Daughter by Donna Everhart is one of those historical fiction novels that will make you think and google facts. This was a well-researched novel, with plenty of factual data along with an astounding story of family, loss, love and redemption.

There were a few writing habits that I found annoying, such as the name of everyone repeatedly placed in dialect sections. Also, if a word count for "Daddy" was used I bet it's the most used word in the book. Other than that, this book was excellent.

I love the traditions of the south and this book did not disappoint on that. I will read more from Ms. Everhart in the future.

I enjoyed this book and thought that the author did a nice job revealing the right amount of information throughout (good pacing)! It did feel a little slow for me, which is the reason I took off 1/2 a point there. The only warning I want to give is this: tread lightly if you (like me) have ever struggled with an eating disorder, disordered eating, or body image/body shame. This is a key aspect of this novel, and while the author did a great job of explaining the ways that our ideas surrounding food and body can be so entangling and confusing, I would be remiss if I didn’t tell people before-hand.

Absolutely wonderful! I'm not a reader , but when I came across this book. I was like I've got to read it. For me this book I can read it and picture everything in my head as to what it looks like, cause lucky for me .I grew up here in Wilkes, and I still live here. I spent most of my childhood growing up in Marovian Falls. So when Jesse is going down these back roads I can kinda figure out where she is in the story. Wilkes county is greatly known for the moonshine. It is also where NASCAR got started. Can't wait to find my next read from Donna Everhart!
