I think this might be my favorite book in the series.

Summary:

Marcia agrees to let Septimus spend a month with Marcellus, to start up the Alchemie Fyre. But, Marcellus is hiding something, and there's really 2 Fyres. The first one-that Marcia knows about- isn't the real Fyre- it's the decoy. The real one is in The Chamber Of Fyre, and it's the real Alchemie Fyre. They couldn't tell Marcia because of ancient history, she would never let them.
Septimus has to choose between Magyk and Alchemie, and he chooses Magyk. Marcellus replaces him with Simon as he new apprentice.
And when he gets back, the two faced ring migrates out of the safety shield box, then it posses Silas's brothers, Edmund and Ernold. Oh, one good part of the book, Syrah Syara finally wakes up. So, Sep, Nik, and Simon go to get Merrin, as bait for the ring wizards. And they bring Alther and Jim Knee with them.

Meanwhile, Jenna is convinced the dragon boat is dying. She can't feel her heartbeat anymore. Right after she's convinced herself, the ghost of her Grandma appears and takes her to her mom. Apparently, they have to go on a Journey to where their family came from.
Before she goes though, she goes to Aunt Zelda to get the bowls for the triple. The Marsh Python ATE one of them, so... yeah. Fortunately, Jenna has the potion, so Marcellus shows her the Alchemie way, and the Dragon Boat wakes up! Hooray! And Aunt Zelda makes Wolf Boy, now know as Marwick, the Keeper.
Jenna somehow ends up in the Port, kind of having run away from her Mama and Grandmamma (that's what she calls them) and she meets Nicko and Septimus, who were in the Port getting Merrin. Anyway, it turns out that Jenna has 3 castles! One at the castle, on at the Port, and one at the mysterious place where she went on her Journey. They take refuge in the castle but… the ring wizards find them! Their name are Shamandrigger Saarn and Dramindonnor Naarn, but they're consuming (or something like that) the twin Heap uncles.
Anyways, Jenna tries to commit them to her crown. It was made from the same gold as the original ring. It doesn't work because Septimus Ejects them-to the Castle! Septimus thought he Ejected them into a cupboard, but it was really a hidden tunnel that led straight to the castle. Now, they have to get back to the castle before the Darke ring wizards get there and destroy everything. Septimus Transports back, and tells Marcia so they can block the entrance and be ready waiting.
Except, Jen, Nik, and Si meets the ghost of Julius Pike, and he tells them that that entrance isn't the main entrance. It's really behind the Manuscriptorium. Jenna and a Beetle rush down there, and Jenna tries the commit them again. The Keystone word was erased, and because it's Magyk, it gets erased from every copy there is. To find out what it is, they all go on the dragon boat to visit Hotep-Ra in The House of Foryx. Nik is supposed to wait outside, but he gets pulled in. Septimus is already inside, and Jenna goes in after them, leaving only (a very confused an forgetful) Aunt Zelda outside. It all turns out OK, and Hotep-Ra decides to come with them. Long story short, they get Sep and Jen head back to the a castle in a faster way, picking up Marcellus.

Meanwhile, the Ring Wizards have gone down to the Chamber of Fyre, and want to destroy it, because it is the only way to destroy the ring. Marcellus goes down there without knowing the ring wizards are there. They don't notice him. Now he finds out his drummins are still alive. He gives them instructions to release coal over the Fyre. If the coal is burning, that means the Fyre is alive underneath. He gets out, and tells everyone else where the ring wizards are. Hotep-Ra has told Septimus how to get the keystone, and he gets it and Jenna learns it. They all go to the chamber, and Marcia provides a distraction while Jenna commits them to the ring!

And, then Jenna has her Coronation! She's officially the Queen now! That's amazing.

Happy Ending. But I'm sad that the series is over.

I KNEW the drummins were alive! I just knew it! And, I thought that Edmund and Ernold were Darke since they showed up! They just reminded me too much of the Ring Wizards in the prologue. And, I KNEW that it was Tod who waved at the Dragon Boat. I accidentally read Pathfinder before I read Magyk. And I remember that somewhere in Pathfinder Septimus went into the House of Foryx knowing that he would meet himself! Amazing how things come toghether.

I just wish it told me more about Syrah waking up. And about Jenna and Beetle. (Hint, hint.)

I's recommend this series to anyone who likes fantasies, fiction, magic, and things that are impossible. And things that seem totally improbable.

*To people who haven't read it, the odd spellings and capitalizations are completely on purpose. Don't comment about it. It all has to do with Magyk.

Obsessed with this series and so sad that it’s done! But what a lovely finale. Everyone gets an ending and the whole series is tied up in a neat bow. I loved these characters and this world so much!

A pleasant end to the Septimus Heap novels. This might be one of my favorites of the series. I loved how many of the plots and issues from previous novels all came together here, tying up the lose ends quite nicely. I didn't find myself bored or in the least bit irritated by its length. I'm glad to have finished the series now, as I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A solid end to Septimus Heap's story.

This felt like tying a lose end from my childhood at long last. AFTER LIKE 7 YEARS of waiting. And I STILL have TodHunder Mood to look foward to.

I have loved this series with all my heart and always will.

4.5 stars, but I'm rounding up because the series was so fun overall. This was the final book in the Septimus Heap series -- I have listened to the audiobook version of all of them. This one seemed a bit slow at the beginning, but I loved how it tied together and wrapped up so many aspects of the entire series. There are so many unique characters from the course of the series that they didn't all get a lot of story time, but I think most of them at least got a mention in this book!
