Firestar is plagued by dreams of fleeing cats, ones he has never seen before. Searching for answers brings him back to his kittypet roots. He finds that there used to be five clans in the forest. He is tasked with finding the lost Skyclan.

This book was just really slow to start. It finally picks up for the last third, and the ending is sweet.

I only read the OG series as a kid, but now we're progressing in the Warrior Cat timeline hehe. This one was just a little bit long and slow at parts which made it 4/5 stars. Also the talking rats? I could not hahaha

A pretty good book! The  journey of firestar and sandstorm leaving thunderclan camp to find skyclan are boring, that part is like 18 chapters, but the rest of the book is great! I love how skyclan is rebuilt, and I llike the new characters, I recommend reading this before starting The New Prophecy

is this the best super edition? we shall see

Firestar's Quest is a companion novel that takes place between the first six-book series of Warriors, and second. Firestar journeys far outside of the Forest of the four Clans to rebuild the mysterious fifth Clan that had left generations ago, SkyClan.

The premise is pretty interesting--especially with StarClan having withheld this information for so many generations, and this fifth Clan fading from memory--but sadly the presentation wound up being a bit duller than I'd hoped. Firestar and Sandstorm spend a very, very long time journeying to find the scattered cats of SkyClan, and once there it feels a bit like a re-hash of the very first Warriors novel as they educate the Skyclan cats in the ways of their ancestors.

Once the main action picks up things improve a lot, but this is one of those novels that could have used with some heavier editing to remove a lot of redundant parts. I was happy that there are a lot of answers as to what originally happened with SkyClan, and some of the developments of relationships with other cats, especially Spottedleaf. Overall, I enjoyed this, just wish it hadn't been bogged down in so much extra detail.

It looks like this will lead into the third Warriors series, as there are some hints at the destiny of the "three." I've been horribly behind in reading these, so I actually have the entire 6-book series of "The Power of Three" waiting for me.
