Kestra is kidnapped on her way back to the home she so happily avoided for three years. She is charged with finding the Olden Blade, a dagger rumored to be in her home and able to kill the magical, evil king. As her personal protector, the rebel Simon has a difficult time controlling the actions of this devious girl and the feelings the two begin to develop for each other.

I think it was predictable but entertaining and mixed a good amount of magic in with the intrigue but it's more court intrigue than fantasy for sure.

I got a copy of this from my coworker who picked it up at TLA. I'm glad I saw it on her shelf and asked if I could take it to read first. I really enjoyed this book. Since I've finished book 5 of Poldark I'm giving myself a break from that to read more YA books. I forgot how fast I go through YA books but this one wasn't an exception.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a wild ride of a book. My only issue with the book was the super fast nature of it. It spans less than a week and way too much stuff happens during that time. Other than that, it was really good. It's a fun one to read, despite the lack of realism with the time span.

If you want a fast paced adventure with a healthy dose of almost but not quite insta-love, then this is a good one to pick up.

This is a great book if you're looking for an example of telling not showing. So uninspired.
