TW: mention of animal death

as someone who does not want children of their own - I’m strangely often drawn to stories about monstrous motherhood. I wanted to love this book but in the end for me it was good but not incredible.

I love a “what the fuck did I just read” kind of book, on which this definitely delivered. As an artist myself the writing of the scene where Nightbitch is at dinner with her art school friends is so visceral and painful and will definitely stay with me. But where this book kind of lost me (or at least needed a trigger warning) was the cat killing scene. Everything else about her transformation seemed to make sense up until that point where it just seemed so..unnecessary? the plot after that to me gets a little meh, but overall it was a strange read with great writing and metaphor use.
